Day 1: TORONTO—It’s really happening!
For the past six weeks, we’ve been reading, completing foundation assignments, chatting over Facebook messenger, packing and unpacking and packing again (and unpacking?!)…to prepare for this very day. Who knew it would come so quickly?!
Despite a few flight delays, we slowly saw our group come together at the Hilton Airport Hotel. Before we said some quick goodbyes to parents, siblings, and friends, we loaded our crew up with workout bands, martial arts pads, yoga mats, journals, t-shirts…we did say to leave some room in your suitcase! A bit of free time to get to know one another, and some quick introductions later (Scott is a bonafide rock star, Yale is a budding movie star and adrenaline junkie, a few of us are avid fans of Netflix’s Riverdale, and Megan M. is a cheese connoisseur), we were off to Lone Star Grill for a delicious fajita buffet.
As Joe said, the spirit of this trip is really about inclusion, having each other’s backs, pushing and challenging ourselves and each other to grow and learn. We could not be more proud of our crew and how welcoming they have been. Despite the expected nervousness and I-don’t-know-anyone jitters, the SpringCrew is already gelling.
Thank you to all of the families that have entrusted us with their students. We’re all so excited to get this show on the road. But for now, some much-deserved sleep before we ease into the MEI Day tomorrow.
