Day 62: Travel Day – The Great Barrier Reef to Yungaburra
We’re off the boat and back on land. We had a busy last day with snorkelling and diving before The Sunkist picked us up to bring us back to Cairns around 2pm.
Before we left we packed our day with snorkelling and diving, adding sea turtles to our growing list of creatures we’ve met. Some early risers even woke up for a second sunrise swim.
The ocean was calm and the ride was smoother. We arrived at the docks around 5pm and boarded a bus. We were whisked off to small town Yungaburra and greeted by a massive swarm of chirping birds living in the nearest tree -there’s plenty of wildlife here in the Tablelands. We yelled over the squawks that we should take a tour of the town.
We walked to the main street, strolled past the cafes, restaurants, and the parks we use for lessons and then returned to our new home. The whole tour took about twelve minutes. Welcome to small town Yungaburra. Population 1000 plus 23 Mei Academy students.
